The National Undergraduate Worker Convention (NUWC) is an annual convention held by the Undergraduate Workers Union

After the success of the 2019 and 2020 conventions, NUWC is back!  The 2023 convention will be held in person at Boston University from September 29th to October 1st and will include workshops and trainings on key topics that will help you build a powerful union on your campus. There will also be plenty of opportunities to socialize and build relationships with other undergraduate workers from around the country! At NUWC, you will be empowered as a student worker to organize, improve working conditions on your campus, and create valuable connections and trust with other student organizers.

Registration is not yet open, but you can fill out the interest form below to be notified as soon as it opens!

Program & Schedule

The full program has not yet been announced, but you can find previous programs here. The convention will include:

  • trainings on the fundamentals of organizing

  • training on how to escalate and advance contract campaigns

  • time to develop cross campus demands and respond to national workplace issues

  • time to socialize and build relationships with other organizers!

Join as a group!

We are strongly encouraging everyone to sign up with their coworkers or with a group of people you organize with. The sessions will include some breakout times to coordinate with that group. Also our hope is that by joining in a group, no one member has to come to every session. Instead you can debrief sessions together and share what you learned with people who were taking a break from zoom!

Don’t have a group? No worries! While we strongly encourage everyone to invite at least one other coworker, it’s ok to come as an individual, as there will be many opportunities to meet people! Reach out to Emma Rose at eborzekowski@wesleyan.edu with any questions or with help getting a group to come.

Access

We are committed to making this conference as accessible as possible to a wide group of student organizers. Sessions will be roughly an hour and a half in person with breaks in between, but feel free to take breaks during the sessions if you need to!  Sessions will be interactive and include breakouts.

Each session will be in English. If translation into other languages (Spanish, ASL, etc.) would help you participate in a session please let us know in the registration form. Please let us know if you have any other access needs by noting them in your registration or by reaching out to Emma Rose at eborzekowski@wesleyan.edu.
